The holidays are quickly approaching and if you are anything like me you like to have a good handle on the shopping as early as possible. Family holidays are expensive – meals, travel, outfits, and decorations – and that’s all before you even buy a single present!
Right now I’m looking for the best $6 and under stocking stuffers for my preschooler and toddler – hope this helps your family save time and save money as you prepare for the holidays! *All prices as of December 1, 2023. Subject to change.

Toys
First, I am a HUGE fan of Green Toys. They are durable, practical and usually inexpensive. I’ve added this $4 (with Amazon Prime) kid’s jump rope. I know the jump rope will be a huge hit with my kids.
The next gift in my cart is this adorable $5 Tea Party set also from Green Toys. This is the perfect small set for an adorable afternoon tea party. Plus it comes with a tea party book!
I promise this post was not sponsored by Green Toys – and this is my last Green Toys recommendation but I know my son would love this kid’s size frisbee. It’s bright, lightweight, and will make a great addition to our outdoor toys.
A few other simple but fun ideas are paper dolls, build and decorate your own airplane, vintage Jacks game, the classic “Wooly Willy,” and the original Slinky. It’s a classic for a reason!
Art
My preschooler is hard at work every day learning about art and practicing coloring inside the lines. This “BIG” Coloring Book from Crayola has 224 pages and is only $5.64 on Amazon. She goes through these pages every day – so hopefully the book lasts until Easter!
Art supplies are great gifts for kids – they are easy and disposable. Also, really affordable! Check out this $1.54 water color paint set or this larger $3.97 set with 16 colors! If you do choose to buy a water color set for your kid consider a $5 water color paper pad as well. This special paper will really make the colors come to life!
For younger preschoolers I really love these special paint pages with watercolor paint right on the page. Just add water and for $5.99 your kid will have a really colorful picture!
If you are considering any art for a preschooler you know it could get messy – consider these washable paints from crayola. Six colors for under $5! Pairs very nicely with this paintbrush set for only $4.69!
Finally, what preschool artist wouldn’t love their own collection of stickers? Try a 24 sheet set, a gem set, a huge 1800 sticker set, or even a fun set of 90’s TV themed stickers – for the nostalgic parent! Stamps are another easy art activity for your preschooler.
Have you thought about including some staple art supplies as a stocking stuffer? Glue sticks, fun tape, safety scissors, colored pencils, a pencil sharpener, crayons, magic markers, highlighters, fun glitter pens, and a travel coloring book can all be found for under $5.
Everyday Items & Non-Toys
I love to put a few everyday essentials and non-toys into the stocking every year. My kids are always using my chapstick and inevitably smushing it to the top of the cap. So this year they are getting their own Burt’s Bees chapstick. The kids will also get a fresh supply of tear-free shampoo, conditioner, body wash, bubble bath, and lotion.
Do you make sensory bins for your child? Or have you seen them on instagram and want to give them a try? Some essentials to make a great sensory bin are: spray bottles, more spray bottles, eye droppers, scoops, small sandbox tools, and funnels. Whip these out with either your play rice or a water based sensory bin and your kid will have a great time!
A little something extra for the Girls!
Girls just wanna have fun? Maybe? But little girls definitely want to have fun with hair accessories. Think about including some small and clear hair ties, larger ponytails, clips, bows (ok this set is $7 but well worth it for the color variety!), or rainbow headbands in her stocking this year. She’ll use them throughout the year!
Fun bracelets, necklaces, and even costume jewelry for your dress-up box make great stocking stuffers for your preschooler!
What do you plan to give as stocking stuffers this year? I hope our list saved you time and money and gave you ideas for affordable gifts for your holiday season!
